How many stems do you need for wedding bud vases?

Estimate your wedding bud-vase flowers by multiplying the number of vases by the stems you plan to put in each. Then add the stems for other arrangements and any spare flowers you want available. A trial arrangement in one of your chosen vases will give you a more useful count than the number of tables alone.

How does the stem calculation work?

If each of eight tables has three bud vases, you need 24 vases. At three stems per vase, the table flowers use 72 stems. Adding a further 12 stems for a welcome-table arrangement brings this example to 84 stems before spares.

Hypothetical wedding flower plan
UseCalculationStems
Guest tables8 tables × 3 vases × 3 stems72
Welcome table1 arrangement × 12 stems12
Total before spares72 + 1284

These quantities are an example for planning, not a recommended recipe for every vase. A single large flower and a few light stems can fill a vase differently from several small blooms. The opening of the vase matters as much as its height.

How does that compare with a flower bucket?

Bloom's Grower's Choice bucket contains 50 stems and costs $115 CAD, so two buckets would supply 100 stems for $230 CAD. In the example above, that leaves 16 stems beyond the initial tally. It does not guarantee that every stem will fit the intended vase or that the remaining flowers cover all other wedding needs.

Bridal bouquets and ceremony pieces need their own allowance if you plan to make those too. A foliage and texture half bucket is also available at $50 CAD for 25 to 30 stems; decide whether those stems belong in the table designs before adding them to your count.

What should I test before placing an order?

Try one of your chosen vases with flowers of roughly the size you expect to use, and photograph it beside a place setting. Check whether it feels too crowded and whether the stems stay where you want them. Record the count once you are happy with the arrangement.

Repeat the test for any larger container rather than applying the bud-vase count to every piece. If you are hiring or borrowing vases, confirm the dimensions first so the trial matches what will be on the tables.

What information helps the farm check my plan?

Send Monique the date and your vase tally, including the stem count from your trial arrangement. Mention colour preferences and any flowers you hope to use. The farm can then discuss the seasonal mix before you decide on the bucket order.
